About Us

About Us: Immanuel Lutheran Church was founded in 1876 by immigrant Germans in the Sheridan Township of Washington County, NE. While some might think this makes Immanuel an "old" congregation, we prefer to view ourselves as 136 years "young." This means that Immanuel continues to be a place for learning, growing, and being nurtured in God's Word and Sacraments. Come see what has made Immanuel strong for 136 years: Jesus Christ, the Holy Scriptures, and a nurturing, family-oriented community of Christian believers!
About our pastor: Rev. Jonathan Ripke has served at Immanuel since his ordination and installation in July 2011. Pastor Ripke is a 2011 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO, one of two seminaries of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), of which Immanuel Lutheran Church is a member. Pastor Ripke is committed to helping Immanuel Lutheran Church proclaim the true Word of God and administer His Sacraments while reaching out to all people in all walks of life with the Gospel of Christ. Pastor Ripke and his wife, Megan, were married in June 2009 in Aurora, CO. Pastor Ripke's hobbies include running, reading, and hiking.
